Judging Process

The Carleton Place & District Chamber of Commerce Business Awards are evaluated through an independent judging process designed to ensure fairness, consistency, and professionalism across all award categories.

Independent Judging Panel

Judging is conducted by Chamber of Commerce professionals from outside our region who are experienced in evaluating business award submissions and recognizing excellence across a wide range of industries.

Through reciprocal judging partnerships with other Chambers of Commerce, our awards are reviewed independently by individuals who are not personally connected to local nominees or businesses.

This approach helps ensure submissions are evaluated fairly and objectively based solely on the information provided within the nomination.

Evaluation Process

Each nomination is reviewed and scored against the criteria outlined within its respective award category.

Judges evaluate submissions based on the quality of information provided, supporting examples, demonstrated impact, innovation, leadership, customer service, and overall alignment with the category criteria.

Confidentiality & Fairness

To help maintain the integrity of the awards program:

  • Judges are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest
  • Judges do not evaluate categories where a conflict may exist
  • All submissions are treated confidentially
  • Scoring is completed independently through a secure online judging platform

Judging Timeline

Online judging will take place from September 14-28, 2026.

Finalists will be notified following the completion of judging, with award recipients announced at the Business Awards Gala.

Tips for a Strong Submission

Because judges are not familiar with the nominees personally, strong submissions should clearly explain the nominee's accomplishments, impact, and achievements.

Whenever possible, include:

  • Specific examples and measurable results
  • Customer or community impact
  • Innovation and leadership highlights
  • Growth, achievements, or milestones
  • Supporting details that demonstrate excellence

The more clearly a nomination tells the story of the nominee's impact and accomplishments, the better judges can evaluate the submission.
